Bentleigh Cobras 1-3 Beaumaris
After turning up late to last weeks game, Beauy started on the front foot this week against the bottom of the table Cobras. With the hosts failing to register a win so far this season, the game was a ‘ banana skin’ waiting to stop an unbeaten 3 game streak for Beauy.
After a slow opening, Bentleigh took the lead after 25 minutes when a cross in from the right found an unmarked man at the back post to give Bentleigh hope that their losing run may be over.
Skipper, Zach Lemke fired Beauy level after 30 minutes with a fine half volley, before defender Sam Mack rose at the far post to head home, but the goal disallowed for offside.
Half time came with the scores level.
In the second half, Beauy dominated proceedings as they got to grips with the partly boggy pitch and were able to maneuver around the cricket pitch in the middle of the ground. Ryan Brown skipped away half way through the half after a delightful ball from new recruit Zach Nasso, playing his first full game, before a handball gave Beauy a penalty to make the game safe.
Center-back Marinos Panayi strode forward and struck his first attempt at the keeper, but the linesman said the goalie was off his line so a retake! Panayi stepped up again and bashed the ball into the corner for a 3-1 win and up to 5th in the table before next weeks bye
Reserves lost 1-2.
