Seniors Round 7: Beaumaris 0 - 1 Malvern City

Seniors Beaumaris 0 - 1 Malvern City

Beauy were denied by a poachers finish from ex Beauy striker, Toby Nowell, which allowed Malvern to claim all three points from their State League One clash on Saturday night.

After a minutes silence in tribute to the recent passing of the father of club legend, Matteo Zappala, the game was a cagey affair in the opening half. Both teams had chances but failed to capitalise, and the half ended goal-less.

The second half began with Malvern pressing in front of their supporters towards the School End of the ground. A Beauy breakaway saw a great run from Ryan Brown , who played in Antun Vulic who’s shot hit the near post with the keeper beaten. Beauy continued to be well in the game, but a defensive slip on 71 minutes saw Nowell pounce and slot home to give Malvern the lead.

The home side pushed forward and were dominant in the last 15 minutes but could not grab what would have been a deserved equaliser.

This week away at Eltham Redbacks ko 0830pm, Friday 14 May

Reserves: Beaumaris 0 - 7 Malvern City
