Senior Women's SL2 Beaumaris 7 - 1 Bentleigh Utd
Third Round for Beauy's Senior Women proved a tricky one to find numbers, clashing with Greek Easter. We went in to the game after two losses in the opening rounds, but stood strong up against our local rivals, Bentleigh United Cobras. With a clever tactic by coach Dani, our regular full back Kate started in Striker and kicked the first goal of the game. It was quickly answered by Cobras who stuck through our backline and took advantage of a one on one with our keeper Mia. Beauy was fighting hard in the warm weather though, and before long landed a penalty after a handball in the box.
Our cool, calm and collected Lisa Parker hit the back of the net. Shortly after, Lisa took a perfect free kick and called on our captain Tash, who answered with another goal. Our team looked strong, with Jordy and Taylor working as hard as ever through the middle. Our hard work was soon rewarded, with Yana (our token Greek for the day) kicking two goals in two minutes.
We went into half time up 5-1 but did not settle. Our defensive work by Lisa Aliotta, Lucia, Jess and Georgia in second half kept our opposition from challenging our scoreline. A second left-footed goal by Tash had us wondering which foot is actually her preferred. With countless more shots, our right-wing Kim eventually hit the net and we celebrated hard, finishing this game 7-1!
We could not have made it without the help of Abbie, Josie, Mia and Chloe who filled in after playing their own games earlier that morning... Legends! Back to training this week to put in the hard yards for Berwick next week. On ya girls!!
