Match Report: Essendon Royals 1-0 Beaumaris SC

Beauy went down to their second defeat of the NPL 3 season on Friday night at Essendon.

Undermanned due to unavailability and suspension, the squad was up against it with a combative Royals team looking for their first win of the season.

The game started at a frantic pace with Royals dominating, but solid rearguard action saw no goals until a scrimmage in the Beauy area, resulted in the referee awarding a penalty to the home side. Our keeper, Jarrod Hill pulled of a great stop, but the ball unfortunately rebounded directly to the Royals player to tuck away.

Royals shots struck the bar and post and Hill made several good stops, with the only Beauy highlight being a header from Hamraz Zenoozi which forced a flying save from the Royals keeper.

The half closed after Royals were reduced to 10 men when Zenoozi was fouled along the left flank and the officials decided a straight red was required.

With the opposition down to 10, there was optimism Beauy could get back into the game, but although they huffed and puffed, they were unable to make an impression, although some opportunities did arise as Royals tired towards the end of the game.

U21’s also went down to a strong and competitive Royals squad.

Next week a big day at Beauy Reserve with our first Sponsors day of the season bringing representatives from the many business partners along to the Club.

Vs Box Hill . U21 ko 1pm and Seniors at 3pm.
