Beaumaris 7-1 Bentleigh Cobras
Beauy went to town with a demolition of near neighbours Cobras last Saturday. On the day when the Club hosted a function for a number of members from the Ukrainian community, the State League One side pressed their case for promotion.
On what was a dull and wet afternoon, Beauy warmed to the task very quickly and were two goals up inside 5 minutes through Ryan Brown and Keegan Ziada. Further goals from AK Singh, a penalty from Gideon Sweet, and a couple from Johnny Maglaras saw a 6-0 scoreline at the break. Quite extra-ordinary!
Cobras scored inside a couple of minutes into the second half, but Beauy grabbed their seventh and Brown’s second soon after, and played the game out with no real drama. Highlight of the second half a thundering long range shot from Jason Dunphy which crashed against the cross bar.
We’re up to third on the ladder with four home games to come, next being Fitzroy City on 30 July ko 3pm at the Reserve.
Reserves lost 1-4 to Cobras with two ‘ worldies’ from the opposition, but a disappointing result against a team we could and should have achieved a result against.
