Match report round 7
BEAUMARIS 1 - 1 GLEN WAVERLEY
Beaumaris women’s state league 3 team drew against our top rival Glen Waverley.
Beauy were mostly dominant in the first half, with Claire challenging the keeper and managing to put the hall at the back of the net.
Despite having no subs for the game, Beauy continued to hold the 1 goal advantage moving into half time. During halftime, coach Danny encouraged the team to conserve energy and continue to test the keeper more.
Throughout the second half, both teams were strong but having difficulty converting onto the scoreboard. The backline was supreme with Yana and Liz stopping two potential goals with some savvy defensive efforts. After a lot of hard work, an unlucky goal was conceded, with a controversial misinterpretation of the umpires whistle. Overall a solid performance from the girls, with a well deserved man of the match performance by Holly Stone.
Hoping to get a win next weekend away at Victory park against Caulfield United Cobras.
Match report round 6
Beaumaris women’s state league 3 team came away with a great win against the Peninsula strikers resulting in a 4-0 victory.
During the first half Beaumaris dominated the game, holding most of the possession and had many scoring opportunities created by numerous players. Eventually one of our dominant strikers Jo Koumi managed to secure two great shots into the back of the net, Jo’s two strikes gave Beaumaris a 2-0 lead going into the second half.
The Beaumaris girls were told at half time by coach, Danielle Tracey, to keep doing what they were doing, hit the ball wide and have more shots on goal. During the second half the whole team didn't stop fighting till the end, our keeper, Amy Coward, and our defenders were solid in the back, midfielders dominant and the strikers were looking very dangerous. The third goal was a cracking shot taken by Tash Bonanno which extended the lead to 3-0 and then a great cross from the wing put through to Abbie Mason shooting the fourth and final goal of the match.
The final score of the match was 4-0 and man of the match was taken out by Jo Koumi.
Next Sunday both the women’s state league 3 team and women’s state league 4 team are playing at Beaumaris reserve. The state 3 team kick off at 11am and the state 4 team kick off at 1pm. We hope to see everyone there and support both teams in two very exciting games. State 3 women are set to take on the top team Harrisfield in a top of the table clash and the state 4 women are set to play Elwood in a gripping match.
Beaumaris Women’s State 3 side extended their unbeaten run to four games following a gutsy come-from-behind 1-1 draw against a resilient Casey Panthers SC outfit at Prospect Hill Reserve on Sunday night.
Following a cagey opening 15 minutes where both teams struggled to wrestle the ascendency, the home side broke the deadlock with a powerful strike to hand them a 1-0 lead.
Led by Jordyn Bruce and Angelique Kyparisis in the heart of defence, Beaumaris did well to withstand a flurry of chances from the home side – who were full of confidence after taking the lead. Ellie Makris and Hayley Russo were exceptional in their wing-back positions as they dealt with the oncoming pressure by moving the ball out from the back.
With Beaumaris down 1-0 at the break, Head Coach Danielle Tracey instructed her team to lift their intensity and encouraged one of her players to step-up and take the game by the scruff of the neck.
Tracey’s half-time chat appeared to inspire her team, who produced one of their strongest showings for the season in the second period.
With Jo Koumi and Natasha Bonanno dominant on the wings and Caitlin Douglass, Georgia Randall and Millie Belleville increasingly dominant in the middle of the park, the home side began to feel the pressure with the ball locked in their defensive half.
Beaumaris would eventually equalise when Jordyn Bruce’s superb free-kick was met by captain Yana Kyparisis, who made no mistake form inside the area.
Beauy’s equaliser set up an entertaining final 15 minutes as both teams were desperate to find the winner. In an end-to-end game, Casey were denied by a brilliant left-footed stop my keeper Amy Coward before a desperate goal-line clearance from Angelique Kyparisis denied the hosts an almost certain winner.
With only a matter of seconds left, Georgia Randall played a delightful cross from the left but Casey’s keeper met the ball well calling an end to the contest.
Beaumaris will be looking to build on their second-half performance against Casey when they host Morwell Pegasus SC in a must-win match at Beaumaris Reserve at 1:00pm next Sunday.
Match Report-Round 3
Beaumaris Women’s State League 3 continued on their winning streak finding the back of the net three times against Boronia last Sunday. The home team side were cheered on by our most impressive turn out of the season to date.
The first ten minutes of the game saw our girls fight hard, dominating the play before shortly
making the score 1-0 after a great free kick taken by Yana Kyparisis, with a fumble from the keeper and follow through by Georgia Randall. After snagging the first goal of the game, the Beauy Women struggled to keep possession and attack, despite having majority of the ball. After a clumsy tackle by Boronias right back, our youngest player in the squad, Abbie Mason, went down in the penalty box. Captain, Yana, was summoned to take the penalty and narrowly missed by striking the ball over the crossbar. Ordinarily state league 4 goal keeper, Shannon Mckenzie, stepped up by making a couple of great saves which could have easily seen Boronia in the lead.
At half time, coach Danielle Tracy insisted on us focusing on using the wings to get the ball across into the danger zone. Goal keeper Shannon had to leave for her state 4 game, meaning a volunteer goalie was required. Georgia played goalie in the second half, requiring the defence line to step up, which they did with ease. Special mention to Holly Stone who saved a goal coming in from the cross by heading it out on the by line. Having listened to Danielle’s instruction, the girls managed to get the ball across to our wingers, Tash Bonanno and Millie Belleville, creating some dangerous play on the park. Not far into the second half, Striker Claire Sim lobbed a great goal over the keepers head to make the score 2-0 to our girls. Not long after that, Claire got her second goal of the game.
The final score 3-0 to the Beauy girls, with the player of the match awarded to Georgia Randall.
Our next game will be at home on the 13th of May for a 1 o’clock kick off. Hope to see you all there, Go Beauy!
BEAUMARIS 4 - 0 CASEY COMETS
Beaumaris women’s state league 3 team secured their second win from two games with a 4-0 victory over Casey Comets.
Throughout the first half, centre back Jordy Bruce dominated in defence and created multiple scoring opportunities. Beauy’s first goal came through a ripper corner from Millie Belleville. After deflecting off multiple players, Yana Kyparisis connected with the corner ball and made it 1-0 to the away side.
Despite having the majority of possession, the team was unable to convert on the scoreboard. At half-time, coach Danielle Tracey encouraged her players to keep possession and test the Casey keeper with long shots.
Beauy came out firing in the second half. Claire Sim used her quick pace to intercept the ball from Casey’s defence and fired a low shot into the back of the net. The final half hour of the game saw Yana Kyparisis achieve her first hat-trick of the season. Her second and third goals came from two powerful shots from the edge of the area. The final score was 4-0 to Beauy and Jordy Bruce was awarded player of the match.
The team hopes to continue their successful start to the season when they take on Boronia at Beaumaris Reserve on Sunday 29th April at 11am. Beauy women’s state league 4 team also look forward to playing their long-term rivals Old Mentonians at Mentone Grammar Senior School at 1pm.
